As part of the fourth edition of the national Day of the Composer, Ensemble Oihua returns to Rotterdam with two compelling performances that speak directly to the spirit of our times. Since its inception, the ensemble has been a dedicated participant in this national celebration, which takes place across more than twenty cities with concerts, workshops, and lectures honoring the work of living composers.
Known for its intense and thought-provoking interpretations, Ensemble Oihua (meaning "The Scream") presents a program of contemporary compositions that explore social issues and philosophical questions through sound.

Saskia Venegas, artistic director of Ensemble Oihua and recently appointed Rotterdam’s City Composer for 2025, will lead a composition workshop for children together with pianist Panos Gklistis. This interactive session invites young participants to discover their creative voice through music. In het kader van de vierde editie van de landelijke Dag van de Componist keert Ensemble Oihua terug naar Rotterdam met twee indringende concerten die rechtstreeks aansluiten bij de geest van deze tijd. Sinds het begin van dit landelijke initiatief is het ensemble een vaste deelnemer aan dit feest van de nieuwe muziek, dat in meer dan twintig steden wordt gevierd met concerten, workshops en lezingen ter ere van de levende componist.
Bekend om zijn intense en tot nadenken stemmende uitvoeringen, brengt Ensemble Oihua (Spaans voor "De Schreeuw") een programma met hedendaagse composities die maatschappelijke thema’s en filosofische vragen hoorbaar maken.

Extra activiteit – 22 juni bij Tante NinoSaskia Venegas, artistiek leider van Ensemble Oihua en sinds kort benoemd tot Stadscomponist van Rotterdam voor 2025, geeft samen met pianist Panos Gklistis een compositieworkshop voor kinderen.
