Superposthardbop

Superposthardbop is a collective found by clarinet player and composer Massimiliano Dosoli in Rotterdam in 2019.  In 2019, after having building up an original repertoire at the studio and playing live in clubs of the Netherlands, we participated to competitions (Erasmus Jazz Prijs), released our first EP online, and subsequently toured in Italy performing at important festivals such as the Calagonone Jazz (IT).  After two difficult years marked by the pandemic we have been gradually transitioning from a written out musical approach to an improvised one. The approach consists in playing a non-stop set of freely improvised music for one hour interspersed by recurring minimalist themes, both originals and not. Playing in such a way allows us to travel through varying musical highroads without losing our compass due to excessive freedom, and at the same time it avoids the sense of imprisonment of a static musical form. In December, we will begin recording our debut LP, which will consist entirely of original compositions. It is scheduled for release in February 2024
