Concert / Rafael Durão & Theo de Blasis

This project consists of a Duo, Rafael Durão and Theo de Blasis, from Portugal and Brazil, both based in Rotterdam and alumni from Codarts. We are passionate about the inspiring composer Carlos Paredes (1925 - 2004 Lisbon), a Portuguese guitar player that took the instrument and Fado to the world's spotlights. We perform some compositions of Carlos Paredes in our own modern arrangements with the unusual line up of Vibraphone and Electric guitar, using extended techniques and electronic effects. This project aims to bridge the gap between Folk, Jazz and Brazilian music. The music of Carlos Paredes is in itself an original combination between Portuguese folk, Jazz and Classical to which we add Brazilian elements of groove, improvisation of Jazz and rich sonorities of classical music.
